About Dig This
Carve tunnels through dirt and roll green marbles into matching cups across 400+ physics puzzles, dodging rocks and bombs with precise digging. Play Dig...
What's in this guide

In Dig This, you drag your cursor across the screen to carve tunnels through solid earth, then let gravity roll a green marble down your dug path and drop it into a matching cup. That single mechanic — dig the terrain, guide the ball — is the entire hook, and it makes Dig This online one of the most satisfying physics puzzlers in the browser.
Created by Voodoo (the studio behind Mob Control and Slap & Run) and released on January 24, 2023, the Dig This game stacks more than 400 handcrafted levels that get progressively trickier, introducing rocks, bombs, and wooden structures you have to dig around rather than through.
Every level is a small engineering problem: where you remove earth decides which way the marble falls. Dig too much and the ball overshoots the cup; dig too little and it never rolls at all.

How to play Dig This: the dig-and-drop loop
How to play Dig This comes down to one rule — clear a path so the marble reaches its cup. Click and hold, then drag to scoop away dirt. The engine simulates real gravity and momentum, so a steep slope sends the marble fast while a flat shelf stalls it. Use the dirt you leave behind as ramps, walls, and catchers.
Obstacles that change your digging strategy
- Rocks — solid blocks you cannot dig; route the marble around them.
- Bombs — avoid detonating or rolling the ball into them.
- Wooden structures — act as fixed barriers that shape the fall line.
Dig This controls on browser and touch
The Dig This controls are deliberately minimal. On desktop, use your mouse: hold the left button and move to dig. On phones and tablets, drag with your finger. There are no keyboard combos to memorize, which is why it plays cleanly on Chromebooks and small screens.
Using Dig This hints without wasting them
Stuck on a level? The Dig This hints system draws a gray shape on screen. Trace that outline with your finger or mouse and the earth is dug away exactly as shown; after each move the next hint shape appears until the puzzle is solved. Treat hints as a teacher — study the suggested shape, then try to replicate the logic yourself on later levels.
Advanced tips for cleaner marble paths
- Dig a shallow funnel directly above the cup so the marble self-corrects on the final drop.
- Leave a thin dirt lip near bombs so the ball slows before the hazard.
- When a rock blocks the center, carve a curved side channel rather than a straight vertical shaft.
Dig This vs Dig This 2: what's different
Dig This 2 is Voodoo's sequel to the original. It keeps the core dig-the-ball loop but adds new powerups, characters, Antigravity and Breakable walls, and 3D graphics. If you've cleared the first game, the sequel is the natural next step — but the original Dig This unblocked browser version remains the leaner, mouse-only experience.
Note: Voodoo's "Dig This" is a separate product from the similarly named "Dig This!" iOS app by Raketspel AB — same idea, different studio.
Games like Dig This on ZGames
If precise, physics-driven control hooks you, try these arcade games and HTML5 games:
- Crazy Tunnel — same satisfaction of threading an object through tight carved space.
- MECCHA CHAMELEON — reflex timing and targeting like aiming a marble into a cup.
- Cookie Clicker Pro — a one-input casual loop you can play in short bursts.
- Parking Fury 3D: Night City — precision-steering puzzles that reward careful planning.
At its best, Dig This turns a pile of dirt into a physics sandbox where one well-placed scoop guides a marble home. Carve, roll, and refine — that simple loop across 400+ puzzles is why so many players keep digging.
